Selen Atasoy, PhD

Selen Atasoy obtained a Ph.D. in medical imaging jointly at the Technical University of Munich and Imperial College London. Afterward, she held postdoctoral research positions at the School of Psychology, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, and at the Center for Brain and Cognition, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Barcelona working with Gustavo Deco (UPF), Joel Pearson (UNSW) and Morten Kringelbach (Unversity of Oxford, University of Aarhus) on neural correlates of different states of consciousness. Currently, she explores neural correlates of altered states of consciousness and psychiatric disorders at Hedonia Transnational Research Group, University of Oxford.

Selen has been awarded TUM Graduate School of Information Science in Health Ph.D. Fellowship, BMEP Biomedical Sciences Exchange Scholarship and Beatriu de Pinós - Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Selen's current research focuses on exploring brain dynamics in consciousness, sleep, meditation, psychedelic states as well as in psychiatric disorders by analysing fMRI and MEG data within the mathematical framework of harmonic waves– a phenomenon ubiquitous in nature.
