John Lemay, PhD, BCIA, LMFT, QEEG-D

John LeMay is a certified Marriage and Family Therapist in Florida and has been practicing since 1995. With a focus on neurobehavioral challenges such as Autism, OCD, and ADHD. John holds three patents in brain computer interface connecting drones to EEG as a clinical intervention. He has consulted on numerous QEEG’s and ERPs within clinical setting. John has also been a beta tester for numerous biofeedback systems and has a keen interest in various neuromodulatory interventions.

Presenting: From Waves to Maneuvers (Intervention): Using John's ERP Model to Understand How EEG State and ERP Stages Model Failure and Inform Neuromodulation Approaches

This presentation introduces an integrated clinical framework for combining EEG and ERP data in assessment and treatment planning. While EEG provides insight into baseline arousal, regulation, stability, and overall network readiness, ERP offers a temporally precise view of how the brain processes information under task demand.

Building on the LeMay ERP model—Arouse, Orient, Detect, Execute, Monitor, and Reorganize/Return to Baseline—this approach moves beyond descriptive waveform analysis toward a functional understanding of where processing breaks down and how interventions can be more effectively sequenced.

A central focus of the presentation is a novel interpretive distinction between state failure, stage failure, and coupling failure. Through clinical case examples, attendees will see how this framework refines assessment and treatment planning across conditions such as ADHD, trauma-related dysregulation, and post-concussive impairment.

The session concludes with practical applications for neurofeedback and neuromodulation, offering clinicians a clearer method for determining where to begin treatment and how to sequence interventions for improved outcomes.

Education Level: INTERMEDIATE

Content builds upon the learner's foundational knowledge, familiarity with the literature and/or experience in a content area. Programming at this level includes more depth than at a beginning level program. It could also serve as a refresher course for individuals who have a background in a content area and are interested in learning more contemporary applications. The primary goal of this particular program is to broaden the clinical, consultative, and research knowledge bases of attendees and was deemed intermediate, by the definition above.  For those psychologists using the modality of biofeedback and interested in efficacy, science, and latest clinical applications. This conference presents research relevant to psychological practice, education, and science; (2) it is our intention to host an offering to help psychologists to keep up with the most current scientific evidence regarding assessment, intervention, and education; and (3) we believe that this program would allow psychologists to increase competencies to improve services to patients. This conference is IN NO WAY a substitute for the basic academic education and training needed for entry into the field of psychology.
