James began working in the field of computer security while attending Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in 1994, working part time and summers at a research aide at the MITRE Corporation. After leaving an Electrical Engineering program at Virginia Tech early in the spring of 1998, he began work full time and since then has spent nearly 30 years working in the fields of computer, network and application security.
